What is Lactose Intolerance?

ice creamWhat is lactose intolerance? Lactose intolerance is simply the inability to digest dairy products such as milk, cheese, yogurt,  ice cream,  and spreads. When someone is lactose intolerant, their small intestine does not produce enough of the lactase enzyme to digest lactose. Lactose is found in the sugars that contained in dairy. But what happens when a person accidentally eats food that contains dairy? Common symptoms after eating food that contain diary include cramps, bloating,  painful abdominal pain, and gas. Other symptoms include diarrhea and sometimes even nausea. Continue reading
